Ada Joann Diamond Barlow

December 27, 1934 — February 28, 2021

Ada Joann Diamond Barlow returned to her heavenly home and reunited with her eternal companion on February 28, 2021. Joann was born on December 27, 1934 in Springville, Utah to Lewis Burton Diamond and Violet Moulton.

She was the only girl in a family of boys (two older and three younger). She was raised on a small farm and developed a strong work ethic which was a trait she carried throughout her life. She loved to spend time being with friends and skating on the frozen ponds.

After graduating high school as a Springville High Red Devil, she attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. It was in the Salt Lake area where she met and then married her sweetheart Robert B (Bob) Barlow on May 6, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. They settled in Bountiful where they raised their family. Joann was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joys were her family and spending time with them–and there isn’t much she wouldn’t have done for them.

Joann had great clerical skills which she used in Bob’s trucking business and again with her employment at the Utah State Office of Risk Management where she worked until her retirement in her early 70s. Throughout the years she enjoyed cross-stitching, crewel, quilting, ceramics, sewing and gardening. She loved taking long walks and golfed up until the fall of 2019. She loved being in nature, including many trips to Lake Powell with family and friends.

Joann was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including at the Bountiful Temple. She had been very involved with Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP). Bob and Joann were social and belonged to a number of organizations including Beehive Roamers (RV camping group) and Rainbow Squares (square-dancing group).

Joann is survived by her children, Scott (Karen) Barlow of West Valley City, Janae (Rob Wilkerson) of South Jordan, and Tamera Donavon (Michael Dyson) of South Weber; brothers Bliss of Orange CA, Verl (Joan) of West Point, and Lynn (Linda) of Fountain Valley, CA; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Jay and Dale, sisters-in-law Shirley (Jay), Toni (Dale) and Lori (Bliss), and her great-grandson Andre.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00am, Wednesday, March 10, with a viewing at 9:00-9:45, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main, Bountiful, Utah. Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery. Services will be streamed live on Facebook at Russon Mortuary & Crematory (https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Funeral-Service—Cemetery/Russon-Mortuary-Crematory-105412734572327/).   In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
