Adarene Riley-Hill

October 15, 1923 — August 23, 2013

1923-2013
On August 23, 2013 our cherished Mother and Grandmother Adarene, joyfully returned to her heavenly home rejoining her loving Heavenly and earthly parents, eternal companion, son, and other loved ones. She leaves behind a lifetime of love and service. Never one to sit idle, she supported her husband in founding the family business Kay Riley and Sons. Mother encouraged and worked along side Dad helping with the accounting and binding. While working tirelessly, they raised a family of six sons (their pride and joy), teaching them honesty and hard work through example.
Adarene was the second of nine children born October 15, 1923, to Camilla Randall and James Richard Boulton, in Centerville, Utah. Mom rode the Bamberger train to Davis High School and later graduated from beauty school. She also worked at the Cudahay Meat Packing Co., and the Clearfield Army Depot. In her free time, she loved to attend dances with her friends at Saltair.
Adarene was sealed to the love of her life Glen Kay Riley, in the Salt Lake Temple on May 1, 1947. They spent fifty wonderful years together. Kay died in 1997. On August 30, 2001 Mom married Earl F. Hill, in the Ogden Temple. Earl brought a sweet companionship to Mom that lasted eight years until his death in December 2009.
Adarene loved her Savior, and lived and served faithfully in many church callings including: Primary, Scouting, Young Women’s President, Relief Society President, Missionary at Salt Lake Genealogical Library, Temple Worker, Bishop’s wife, and missionary mother to five sons. Mom loved being at home canning, gardening, and diligently fixing hot meals for her boys. ‘Use it up, wear it out and make it do,” was her second nature. She was a diligent journal keeper leaving us a legacy of her testimony. Mom loved walking with her friends in the mornings until her 88th year.
Adarene is survived by her sons: Hal (Marylyn), Kirt (JoAnn), DeMar (Linda), Gary (Susie), and Doyle (Tracy); 30 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; sister Wanda Burdett; and brother Ray Boulton. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Glen Kay Riley, Earl F. Hill; her son Jeffrey Kay Riley; granddaughter Amber Riley; sister Maurine Nye; brothers: Gordon, Meryl, Glen, Robert, and Hal Boulton. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Welcome Home and A Step Forward Hospice.
