Adrin (Andy) L. Anderson

August 21, 1925 — December 18, 2020

Adrin L. (Andy) Anderson, born August 21, 1925 passed away at home on December 18, 2020.

He was the son of Anna and Merrill Anderson, born in Ephraim Utah.  In his childhood he was taught to be a hard worker while he helped his father on their family farm and this work ethic continued throughout his life.  He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy and was stationed in the Mediterranean near Italy and North Africa.

After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked briefly for United Airlines in San Francisco, even tried Carpentry for a time, and then back to the family farm.  He finally decided to move to Salt Lake City where he eventually leased a service station on Redwood Road and North Temple.

One of his customers insisted on setting him up on a blind date where he met the love of his life Fay Lund.  They were married on April 24, 1959 and later sealed in the Manti Temple 6 years later.  They built their home in Bountiful when they decided to build their own business, so Andy and his friend Frank built “Andy’s Self Serve” Gas Station & Milk Depot.  The business opened on the day their youngest daughter Kristy was born.  The business went so well that he added a car wash, storage units, and eventually a lube center.

After 33 years he sold the business, and although he was still involved for a short time he officially retired in his seventies.  Through those years he came to love his customers like a 2nd family and cherished the many friendships he made there.  He also loved his family dearly and always wanted to make sure all their needs were met.

Many health challenges developed over the years including a blood disorder, Hemachromatosis, which impacted the severity of his arthritis and led to the need of joint replacement surgeries for his knees, hips, shoulders, and the fusion of his ankles.  We called him the “Bionic Man”.  He never complained despite the debilitating pain and inflammation he endured with arthritis, but he would always just enjoy the ride of life’s challenges.

He was a perfect example in showing kindness, honesty, and charity and all who met him always thought the world of him.  He was loved by everyone!  His last years on this earth he was just happy to be with his family and enjoy the visits of others who were dear to him.  He will be greatly missed!  We will always have a hole in our hearts from being separated from this great man but look forward to the great reunion in heaven. “We Love You Andy”!

Survived by his wife Faye, daughters Tina Parsons and Kristy, granddaughter Heather (Trent) Snyder, and 5 great grandsons (John, Adrik, Caleb, Mike, and Ryker).  Andy is preceded in death by his son Brent, infants Todd, Dennis, and Tamara, his dear nephew Court Armstrong, and many other cherished family members.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening December 22nd from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful. A viewing will also take place on Wednesday, December 23rd at the LDS meeting house on 2505 South Davis Blvd in Bountiful from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m.

Interment at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
