Aigauputasi Pasami Memea

Our beloved mother, the matriach of our family Aigauputasi Pasami Memea, 76, of Lefaga Samoa, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023 in Centerville UT. She was born in Savaia, Lefaga on July 27, 1946 to Fiaui Meapua’a Fa’apito Malama (Lefaga & Fagaloa) and Fa’afete Palepua of Moata’a. She was raised by Fiaui Sione and Telesase Va’aaoao of Sale’aula Savai’i. Aigauputasi was married to Ofisa Tiuli Memea on July 11, 1965. She was a Samoan healer and midwife. Pasami was educated at Safa’ato’a primary school and ended her studies at Sauniatu Primary school. She was molded in the art of a healer by her mother and was seek after for her midwife knowledge and skills. She followed her parents who served as service missionary for the newly introduced Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Samoa. She loved learning about her newly found religion and developed a passion for it. Mom served in many callings in the church – including Primary Presidents/Counselor, Relief Society President/Counselor, Sunday School teacher and Seminary teacher. Regardless of many hardships she endured in life, our mother successfully raised 9 boys and 7 girls as a single parent. She is the mother to 16 children 60 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Va’a Sioka (Faatonuga) Faitalia of Saleaula, Samoa; Talaiga (Tilo’a) Memea of Vaigaga, Samoa; To’afitu (Vagana) Memea of Brisbane Australia; Saline (Iulio) Kasio of Aleisa, Samoa; Kanesa (Samita) Fu’e of Vaitele, Samoa; Tele (Mamaia) Mamaia of Am Samoa; Sinalua Loineta (Alapati) Filiga of Satupa’itea, Samoa; Manai (Mathew) Chu Ling of Tulaele, Samoa; Ioelu (Sharon) Memea of Utah, USA; Ofisa Memea of Am Samoa; Misilila (Michael) Shipman of Hilo, Hawaii; Feagaiga Ruta Memea of Vaitele, Samoa; Rex (Sevena) Memea of Vaiusu, Samoa; Nick Memea of Vaitele, Samoa; Kimball (Lisi) Memea of Melborne, Australia; Ashton (Leena) Memea of Sydney, Australia. She was preceded in death by both her parents Fiaui Meapua’a Malama and Fa’afete, husband Ofisa Memea and daughter Kell Memea.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 12 at the Memea’s home at 550 E 250 N at 5:30pm followed by a family & Ward Prayer at 6:30pm. A family Service is scheduled on May 13 at the Vaiola Ward at 9am followed by the Funeral Service at 11:30am at 55 E 350 N, North Salt Lake. Interment will follow at 1640 Lakeview Dr, Bountiful Utah.  Services will be streamed live on the Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page and on this obituary page.  The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the service and will be posted below.
