Alan Aaron Johnson

June 12, 1930 — April 22, 2016

Our beloved husband, brother, father, and patriarch Alan continued on in his journey to the eternal realms on Friday April 22nd, 2016 after fighting a years-long battle with Parkinson's and other complications at the age of 85. Alan was born to Louis Aaron Johnson and Sarah May Newby on June 12th, 1930, in Salt Lake City, UT. He served a mission in Northern California, married his sweetheart Helen Pitman in the Idaho Falls temple, and then served in the Korean War. After graduating from Utah State University with a BS in business management, he worked his career years with AT&T/U.S West in their management ranks. Alan loved to serve and held a variety of positions in his church and community including serving as the Kiwanis Club President, and Bountiful City Councilman. With Helen, he served as a missionary in the Lansing, Michigan, Malaga, Spain, and the Family and Church History Service missions, as well as serving at the LDS Employment Center in Centerville, Utah. Alan was very likable and was loved and admired by all. He loved people and was always found starting conversations with complete strangers and had a real knack for finding something in common with them. He loved playing basketball and even played in the Senior Olympics in Saint George, Utah. He loved to play golf and travel. His final residency was at Legacy House of Bountiful for 2 years. He was grateful for their loving care as well as Todd and Althea at A Step Forward Home Health. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Ardyth Zaring, Janice Walden, Eldon Johnson, and grandchild Michelle, grandchild Seth (stillborn), and great-grandchild Evangeline (stillborn). He is survived by his wife Helen and their six children: Randy (Janna), Steve (Becky), Brian (RaeLynne), Lori Langston (Leon), Nancy Beckstead (Dee), Daron (Julie), 27 grandchildren, and 52 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the kind staff at Orchard Cove Rehabilitation in Bountiful.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Bountiful 26th Ward, 200 North 200 West, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Wednesday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
