Farmington, Utah- Alan Langlois Stine, 81, passed away February 6, 2013 after a long struggle with Alzheimers disease. He was born in Ogden, Utah, May 19, 1931 to David Lowe Stine and Gladys Peterson and was the youngest of three children. He married Linda Lee Deverall in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. They were the parents of five children, Farrell Alan (deceased), Corine Pevny, Tricia Faile (Jim), Lance Stine (Tacy) and Melinda Oltrogge (Jason). He married Sally Kell and they were later divorced. He married Imogene Erickson Jackson in Provo, Utah and they were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple.
He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Ramie Air Force Base in Puerto Rico. He served an LDS mission to the Northern States Mission in Minnesota. He was a graduate of Brigham Young University earning a Masters degree. He was involved in the Education System of Utah for 35 years and worked 25 of those years as a counselor at Davis High School.
Alan loved all kinds of sports and participated in golf, tennis, racquetball, skiing, bowling and running. He was often seen jogging most mornings up and down the streets of Farmington. He also loved to watch spectator sports any way that was available.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, having served in several Bishoprics and as a Ward Clark, as High Priest Group Leader, Sunday school teacher and community preparedness coordinator. He served 5 years as a Hosting and Guest Services Missionary at Temple Square. He also loved singing in the ward choir and had a beautiful bass voice.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene, his children, Corine, Tricia, Lance and Mindy, as well as six step children, Valerie Jackson, Shirley Bryant (Michael), Douglas Jackson (Heather Nicole), Allen Jackson (Heather Anne), Cynthia Monk (Douglas) and Andrea Kay Graves (Taylor), as well as ten grandchildren, 19 step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by son, Farrell, parents, brother, Dick and sister, Janet LeMay.
Funeral Services will be held at the Farmington 19th Ward Chapel, 825 South 50 East, Farmington, Utah on Friday, February 15 at 1:00 p.m. A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main, Farmington , Utah from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14 and from 11:30 to 12:45 p.m. Friday at the church prior to services. Burial will be at the Farmington City Cemetery.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Mountain Ridge Dementia facility and the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home where Alan was a resident until his death.
