Albert Gray

April 25, 1923 — August 19, 2011

OUR BELOVED FATHER

Albert Louis Gray passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011, joining his sweet wife who went before him six weeks ago.

Al was born in Salt Lake City on April 25, 1923 to Ernest Albert Rhine Gray and Elizabeth Ross Smith. He attended West High School. He enlisted in US Navy in 1941 serving on the ships USS Folton and the Hollandia, picking up the survivors of the Yorktown and transporting survivors of the Indianapolis from Hawaii to the main land. After the war he married Lois Lilian Dent March 3, 1950.

A devoted father and husband and member of the LDS church. He was an avid bowler since his return from military service. He retired from Union Pacific Motor Freight. He was generous to a fault, and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they adored him. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Lois, his sisters, Lorraine (Pat) McCabe, Dorothy (George) Baker, Marjorie (Bus) Noyce; and his siblings; Irene (Walter) Anderson, Harriett Gray, Ernest Leroy (Gray) Renner, Melvin Lewis Gray, Lena May (Stanley) Harkey, and Frances (Wallace) Perkes.

He is survived by his daughter Shauna (Jack) Sargent, and sons Kevin (Wendy), Jeff (Valerie), Cory (Tamra), 19 grandchildren, and 43 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City. Friends may call prior to services at Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary, 255 South 200 East from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Online guestbook available at www.russonmortuary.com
