Aleen Armstrong Gardner

June 29, 1930 — April 25, 2016

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend left this life after a sudden and short illness, on April 25, 2016.

Aleen was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Joseph Dalley and Myrtie Jensen Armstrong on June 29, 1930.  She married Duane L. Gardner in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple August 10, 1949 and they were blessed with four wonderful children: Robert (Eme) Las Vegas, Nevada; Steven (Jana) Idaho Falls, Idaho; Janet Carrigan (Scott) Kaysville, Utah; and Douglas (Jana) Henderson, Nevada; 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.  Aleen and Duane were high school sweethearts and have been married nearly 67 years.

Aleen was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many ward and stake positions.  She served four Church Service missions including 11 years as a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and 9 years as hostess at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  She and Duane were guides in the Conference Center and also served in the Member Location Department of the church.

As a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, she went on international tours, participated in many recording sessions and the filming of the Christmas classic “Mr. Krueger’s Christmas” and sang at the 1980 Presidential Inauguration.

Aleen’s family was always the center of her life. She will be remembered as being loving and caring by each one of them.

She was a “true blue” BYU Cougar fan and enjoyed going to and watching all of the games with her family.

After the Savior, His church, and her family, she loved singing.  From the time she was very young, when she sang standing on the piano bench with her mother accompanying her and her father prompting, she sang in duets, trios, sextets, and choirs. She also conducted several Ward and Stake choirs and loved the music of the church.

She is survived by her immediate family; two brothers, Joseph Armstrong (Joann) Provo, Utah and Charles Armstrong (Karen) Dallas, Texas.  Many nieces and nephews and cousins also survive her.  She is preceded in death by her son, Robert; two sisters, Beth Jaussi and Gay Pendleton; and parents Joseph D. And Myrtie J. Armstrong.

There will be a viewing on Friday, April 29, 2016, from 6-8:00 p.m. at the LDS Stonecreek Ward building at 1475 No. 300 West in Bountiful, Utah.  There will also be a viewing in the same location on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.  Funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon.  Interment will be in the Kaysville, Utah Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road.
