Our wise and wonderful mother passed away December 23, 2010 due to the effects of a stroke. She was born in Scofield, Utah to Bernard and Hildur Olson Newren on Sept. 25, 1916. Her family moved to Salt Lake City where Aleen graduated from East High School in 1933 – being awarded the Stewart Medal of Honor as the outstanding female graduate in the Salt Lake City schools. She eloped with her beloved Walter James Corbett on June 10, 1937 (because he was slightly underage and his mother wouldnt give her consent). Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. To them were born Coraleen (Lynne), Michael, Susan, and Peggy. Her darling Walt passed away in Jan., 1964. In 1972 Aleen married Marinus Petersen Madsen. This marriage brought her three more sons whom she dearly loved: Even, Dan and Jens. She lived in California until Peters death in 1990. After his passing, she built a house in Bountiful, and lived next to her daughter, Susan. Aleen was an intelligent woman, an outstanding teacher, and served in many capacities in the church – including being a Stake Primary President where her area of responsibility included nearly half of Texas and part of Louisiana. Hers was an exemplary life well lived. Aleens family will miss her tremendously but know that she is with her Savior, and happy to be wrapped in Walts arms once again. No viewing is planned. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Mueller Park Stake Center, 1800 East Mueller Park Road, Bountiful, Utah.
