Alice Leone Brigman passed away peacefully at home in her sleep surrounded by those she loved on July 11, 2014, her sweet late husband Eddies birthday. We know she was welcomed with love by her husband, daughters, and family who had been waiting for this day and their reunion was a joyous one. She was born to Edwin John Knox and Alice Louise Newsome on February 13, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest of seven children. Leone always said that her life really began when she met her sweetheart Edward Sidney Brigman. They were married August 27, 1947 in Salt Lake City and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in 1952. Together they had three children Kendall, Mickie and Jill. They celebrated 50 wonderful years together before Eddie passed away in 1997.
Leone worked for First Security Bank, and later for Mormon Handicraft. She felt privileged to serve in the Bountiful temple for several years. Her testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ remained strong and was grateful for any opportunity to serve Him.
Leone had a great love for reading, and filled bookshelves with books that she read before she lost her ability to read as her eyesight declined. She loved lions and clocks, and had a great collection of both in her home. She had a quick wit, and a sharp sense of humor, and conversation with her often turned into laughter. She loved root beer floats, chocolate, anything purple, and giving people a hard time. Her greatest happiness came from caring for her husband and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Edward; and her two daughters, Mickie and Jill; siblings: Kenneth, Dorothy, Arvilla, Charles, Ruth, and Val. She is survived by her son and his wife, Kendall, and Sandy Brigman; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. We love you Grandma Lion !
We especially give thanks to Beccy Searle, Toni Jewett, Jonathan Laws, Helen Rigby, and the girls at Washington Federal for their friendship and assistance during her last years. We are grateful for the wonderful help of Superior Health Care and their service to our mother.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, July 18, 2014 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held from 10:00 – 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
