Alice LaVera Caldwell was welcomed home on October the 27th.
She was born in Livonia Township, Michigan to Charles & Bertha Lute. She was the youngest of 9 children. She grew up on the family farm, where she developed her love of both draft and saddle horses. She attended Briggs school, a one room school house with her siblings. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Alice traveled frequently. As a young woman her travels took her to many locals including Washington D.C. for the National Roller Skating Championships, New York City, Florida, Canada and California. She attended the opening of the St Lawrence seaway and while touring the Navy Destroyer the Charles H. Roan she met her husband Frank E. Caldwell. They married in September of 1962 at Moffett Field California and shortly after moved to Idaho where they lived for many years. After retirement they moved to Arizona and Utah. She was especially fond of a trip to Mexico and Branson, Missouri with her husband. Alice was fearless and adventurous. Twice traveling from Idaho to Detroit alone with her young daughter. She continued this spirit until the very end. She still loved to drive and often went on adventures by herself into Layton and HAFB. Alice also loved the outdoors and she and Frank enjoyed camping, hunting & fishing together. Alice played bingo frequently, built many puzzles and played an occasional game of Keno
Alice was a loving mother, wife, grandma, great grandma, daughter, sister & friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Frank Caldwell, her parents and five siblings.
She is survived by her daughter Linda (Brad) Peterson; grandchildren Mandy (Andrew) Hedrick; Justin (Dana) Peterson, Demi Peterson. Great grand children Alex & Connor Hedrick and Emerson Wooldridge.
Alice lived every day of her life as if each day was an opportunity for a new adventure. She found fun in the simplest of life’s moments and made memories for all of us to treasure…she is deeply loved and is greatly missed.
