Our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Alice Purnell Oliver passed away peacefully in her home on March 11, 2012. She was born in Ukon, Idaho on September 5, 1920 to LeRoy Foster Purnell, and Eleanor Porter, but much of her childhood and growing up years was spent in Logan, Utah. She had many fond memories of Logan and the friends she knew there. She married
Charles Colin Oliver on March 9, 1941, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 9, 1954.
If you never knew Alice you missed knowing the most beautiful woman in the world, and the best mother in the world. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, and for her gracious example of love and devotion, tolerance and kindness, and also for her patience, perseverance, and her hard work ethic. She also possessed the wonderful gift of being a good listener. All of her children and grandchildren knew they could talk to her about anything without feeling judged. She was employed at Sperry Univac, and Evans and Sutherland, and enjoyed working in the electronics industry. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in various callings. She especially enjoyed serving a Stake Mission where she worked with family history. She was a member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served as a member of her local Board. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but especially her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Colin, and her daughter, Sharon Patricia.
She is survived by five children: Charles Wesley, Diana Jean (Wesley), David Bruce (Lee Ann), Gary, and Sandra (Daniel), her sister Carol Roberts, and brother Richard Dority. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren.
We want to thank all of her Hospice nurses and attendants, and we also wish to thank neighbors and friends for their service and kindness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Bountiful 37th Ward, 1540 North 400 East, where a viewing will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
