Alice Olsen

December 29, 1936 — November 28, 2024

Alice Elaine Tobler Olsen, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Alice’s greatest joy came from her family and her faith. With her devoted husband by her side, she passed from this life to the next. Our faith reminds us that we will see her again, free from the pain and limitations of age and mortality.

Her husband, Candland (Candy) Olsen, was her devoted caregiver as complications from Alzheimer’s limited her ability to do many of the things she once did.

Alice was born on December 29, 1936, to Ezra Tobler and Alice Gates in Saint George, Utah. She graduated from East High School. She married Candland Lee Olsen June 13, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Logan where Candland graduated from Utah State University. They then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she managed their home and growing family while Candy completed his dental and orthodontic schooling. Upon graduation they moved their family to Bountiful, Utah where they raised their children, 4 daughters and 3 sons. Mom took great pride in her home and loved to entertain family and friends.

She loved decorating her home and sewing for her family. Her life was one of service holding various positions in the PTA, and served faithfully in the Primary, Young Womens, and Relief Society on both ward and stake levels in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was dedicated to every position, call, or assignment she received.

She was a devoted companion to Dad whether it was canoeing the rivers of the Ozarks, building their homes, working by his side at the office, cheering him on at cow cutting competitions, or helping him build the addition on the Montana cabin. She continually supported her husband in his many projects. Even when the disease was stealing her memories, her focus was on serving others who faced more challenging circumstances. She was known and beloved by residents and staff at Legacy House. Mom was happiest when she was rocking a baby or surrounded by her family.

Alice is survived by her husband Candland Lee Olsen, brothers Wayne Tobler (Chris), and George Tobler (Chris); children Shauna Robins (Kevin), Scott Olsen (Susan), Lisa Belliston(Michael), Steven Olsen (Sherri), Marc Olsen (Janine), Heidi Tidwell (Kirk), and Alison Fonnesbeck (Brant); 32 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dallin and Lawrence, and granddaughter Julie (Belliston) Anuszkiewicz.

We wish to express our thanks to the hospice nurses, aides, and staff at Legacy House for their kind, loving, and tender care of Mom through this transition. We invite friends and family to join us for a celebration of Alice’s life.
