Al Francis was suddenly called home to his Heavenly Father on July 3rd . Al married his sweetheart, Jean Shoell, July 22, 1961 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 11, 1963. They have five children; David Francis (deceased), Teresa Wilde (Gary), Colleen Fulks (Charlie), Pamela Opp (Dennis) and Kenneth Francis. He has 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren with another on the way. He was son of William Edgar Francis and Bessie Gardner.
Spending time with Jean and the rest of his family was what Al enjoyed most in life. He especially enjoyed time spent camping, fishing, and working in his garden. Some of his favorite moments were playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Al worked for the FAA where he thrived with his “tinker” skills that he loved using at home and to serve others. He was an avid fisherman and taught all of his grandchildren to love the sport and many of them to tie flies. He had a small aircraft pilot license and he loved to take his family flying, as well as taking them “flying” on his motorcycle. He also enjoyed the time he spent on his Amateur Radio. Al served in many positions in the LDS Church through the years and he influenced the lives of all that knew him.
Family and friends are invited to share in a celebration of his life at a viewing which will be held on Thursday, July 9th from 6pm-8pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main, Farmington. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Friday, July 10th at the LDS Church located at 1535 N 1075 W Farmington with a viewing from 9:30am – 10:30am preceding the service.
