Allen E. Bauer

May 9, 1929 — May 30, 2016

From my father, Ernest Washington Bauer, I received the characteristics of honesty, patience, hard work, love of mountains and rangeland vistas, affection for dogs and livestock, and an appreciation for solitude.  From my mother, Viola Belle Slack, my gifts were dependability, pride, anxious moments, worries and loyalty.  I began exercising and developing these gifts on my birthdate of May 9, 1929 in Cedar City, Utah.  My parents also brought me three sisters, Jean, Aileen, and Yvonne for whom I have always had affection.

From life and schooling I gained an appreciation for all people, a love of reading, a cherishing of history and heritage, a taste for a wide range of music, a desire to paint and an admiration for artists both musical and visual.

From my heavenly parents and the blessings of the Spirit I inherited a commitment to the restored gospel and a multitude of opportunities to serve in a wide range of L.D.S. church callings.  All of them were choice and fulfilling.  None was more so than the years spent as a missionary at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.

From my wife, Mary Helen Tankersley, I gained the fullest aspects of love and family contentment. It all began with our marriage on May 4, 1951.  Through this union came four unique children, three sons, Shanon, Kirby and Darren, and one daughter, Janis.  Through them and their spouses came deeply loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

From my professional life in public education I gained university degrees, teaching experience, specialization, administration service, a deep appreciation of the diversity of American society with its strengths and weaknesses, and a lasting admiration for caring, understanding and effective teachers.

I thank God for those good years from 1929 until now.  I have made the transition from this life’s stage to a greater, more kind and eternal sphere.  I look forward to seeing my family and friends there for the coming eons of time.

If my memory stirs you to do so, you may want to attend my viewing at the Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful, Utah on Thursday evening June 2, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. My memorial service will be a private family and extended family service on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary Chapel with a private family viewing just prior to the service.  Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com.
