Alma White

April 18, 1934 — August 28, 2013

Biography

Our dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Alma Orlan White, began his heavenly mission on August 28, 2013 after sharing a “simply marvelous” day with his sweetheart. Alma was born on April 18, 1934 in Thayne, Wyoming, son of Orlan Alma and Laura Bell Swenson White. He was one of ten children born to this couple.
Alma was raised in Star Valley, Wyoming, and spent much of his youth caring for the farm animals, cutting firewood, and helping with the hay mowing, racking and stacking, and lumbering.
A dedicated devoted husband and father, Alma truly lived a life of service and love. His legacy of sacrifice, sense of humor, optimism, and service has impacted countless people, especially his posterity.
His professional career was centered on electrical engineering mostly with Utah Power and Light, and then later as a member of CC&E Engineering (a consulting firm).
Forever valiant in his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ he never said no to a calling and served in various capacities. He served a mission early in his life to the Eastern Canadian Mission. Later, together with his dear eternal companion, Leila, five additional missions were served: Temple Square, Brooklyn New York, Atlanta Georgia Temple, Family Search, and the Family History Center.
He loved designing, building, repairing, tweaking, reading, movie watching, hugging, loving, serving, helping, and nurturing. One of his messages to us would be: “Life is what we make of it – always has been, always will be.”
He is survived by his wife, Leila, and children – Becky (Russell Hatch), Brenda (David McMillan), Patricia (Russell Peters), Shauna (Todd Sheridan), Brian (Robyn Homer), and Jennifer (Kyle Webb) – twenty-three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren (see list below).
