Alvin Hatch

Alvin W. Hatch was born to Myrtle Irene Butterfield and Clyde Alvin Hatch January 11, 1921 in Woods Cross, Utah. He attended school in West Bountiful, So. Davis Jr. High and graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville. He attended Utah State Agricultural College and left school to join the Air Corps after Pearl Harbor was bombed. He was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona. Later he went to Santa Ana, California and received a medical discharge because of a hearing loss. Upon returning home he became Foreman for Hatch Bros. Livestock Co. of Woods Cross, Utah. He married Charmain Jamison of Evanston, Wyoming in the Salt Lake LDS Temple October 10, 1944. They were married for 63 years. He worked for Hatch Bros. and when his Father became President of the company, he became General Manager. He served on different livestock boards in Utah. When the company was sold to Fred Anschutz of Denver, he stayed on as manager, under contract for two years, also managing a livestock operation for Anschutz at Medicine Bow, Wyoming, and South Park, Colorado. After his contract with Anschutz was up be bought his own cattle and sheep ranch at Raymond, Idaho. After nine years at Raymond, he sold his ranch and holdings and moved to Bountiful, Utah. In 1984 he purchased 4.3 acres on the east side of Bear Lake where he lived 6 months of the year until it was sold in October 2005. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church and had been a Scout Master and Home Teacher. He is survived by his wife and six children: James Eugene Judy, Linda Jean Irvine David, Marilyn Gutierrez Paco, Scott Alvin Cindy, Thomas Clyde Jan and Ira Steven; 16 living grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers who were killed in World War II in the South Pacific in the Marine Corp. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the Bountiful Heights Ward Chapel, 33 South Moss Hill Drive, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
