Amber Lee Gurr Peterson passed away January 31, 2021 in Ogden, Utah. She was born on October 18, 1984, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gordon and Debbie Gurr. Amber graduated from Davis High School in 2003. She then enlisted in the Army and served from 2003-2015. She served in Iraq and achieved the rank of specialist, before retiring for medical reasons.
She married her love, Jason Peterson on June 2, 2012, and they lived in Layton, Utah until the time of her passing. Amber loved Jason and her family, especially her sister Sadie. She was blessed with a stepdaughter, Samantha, and a grandson, Malachi, along with other nieces and nephews.
Amber loved with all her heart. Wherever she went, she helped all she met, become better. She was always a caretaker and loved serving others. She baby-sat and befriended so many children and became so close to them that many of their parents think of her as a daughter. She loved softball, camping, four-wheeling, biking, snowboarding and taking care of her dogs—owning up to seven at a time. Amber’s loyalty, strength and friendship will be missed by all who knew her. She was an inspiration to all, because despite her medical challenges, she always stayed strong and never gave up. We will miss her dimpled smile and her love for everyone.
She is survived by Jason, Samantha, Malachi, her parents, Gordon, Debbie (Thomas) and her stepfather Dion, her in-laws, Gordon and Diane, her siblings Sadie (Scott), Gordie, Jason, Brandt and Trent, as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life for all who knew her on Saturday, June 26th at 6:00 pm at Barnes Park (Pavillion #1) in Kaysville, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation through a Venmo account, set up by Jenni Schwab, @Love4Amber4526 to help the family and to pay for expenses for her Celebration of Life.
