Ann Mihlfeith

October 16, 1942 — January 16, 2017

Surrounded by loved ones, our precious and loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend, Kathryn Ann Moesinger Mihlfeith, passed away 16 January 2017 at the age of 74 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ann was born 16 October 1942 in Ogden, Utah to Gilbert C. and Donna M. (Slater) Moesinger. Nicknamed "Peppo" by her father because of her youthful energy, Ann was a Tigerette at Ogden High.  She was involved in tennis, dance and musical productions as well as student government.  During that time, she was also elected Secretary of State at Girls’ State.

After graduating in 1960, Ann went to Weber State College and graduated with honors and the distinction of being the first person to complete a B.A. degree from the former junior college.  She continued cheerleading in college as a Wildcat. A serious debater, she won second place at the National Forensic Tournament, “thanks to an outstanding debate partner,” Ann would modestly state.

Throughout her life, Ann was a cheerleader for those she loved. She taught English, German, and Latin for 19 years at Highland High School.  Beloved by her students and colleagues, she treasured her time with the Highland community.

Ann and Carl Max Mihlfeith married 29 June 1973, in Clark County, Nevada.  They were later sealed together and with their children in the Salt Lake City, LDS Temple on 28 May 2005.  Ann served faithfully in many callings as a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Now that she has left us, our hearts are broken because we have lost someone whose extraordinary kindness and warmth are irreplaceable.

Ann is survived by her husband Max, her children, Richard, Catherine and Kimberly (Joe) all of Salt Lake City, Utah; oldest son Kirk Wangsgard (Lisa) of Sunset, Utah; Darcy (John) of North Carolina; her brothers Bob (Suzanne) of Ogden, John (Diana) of Farmington, and Scott (Patti) of St. George.  As well as many nieces and nephews. Ann held dear her German heritage and was “Oma” to her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann and Joseph Michael Breault. Ann also leaves behind too many friends to count- a true sign of how blessed she was. Proceeded in death by her parents and her son Michael G. Wangsgard.

We express our gratitude to the supportive staff at the University of Utah Hospital and her physicians Dr. Jeff Barklow and Dr. King Udall.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 21 January 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Foothill 7th Ward Chapel, 2215 East Roosevelt Avenue Salt Lake City, Utah 84108.  Viewing will be held prior to the service at 1:00 pmin the same building. She will be laid to rest next to her son and parents, Monday, 23 January 2017 at Aultorest Memorial Park, Ogden, Utah.
