Arlan E Winterton, age 85, passed away March 7, 2015 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Arlan was born March 13, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lucy Eldredge and Heber R. Winterton.  He was raised in Charleston, Utah, attended Wasatch High School and Seminary, and graduated from BYU.  He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in many callings, including a mission in the Eastern States, and financially supported many missionaries throughout his life.  He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, taught High School Business classes, and worked 22 years as an accountant at Salt Lake City School District.  He was an office and reading volunteer for 10 years at Hawthorne Elementary in SLCSD.

He is survived by his sister, Eloise Bond, Provo; brother-in-law, Joseph R. Thacker, West Valley City; 8 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and 20 great-great nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Julia W. Thacker; and nephew, Tyler Thacker.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 11:00am at the LDS Ninth Ward, 500 S. 300 E., Salt Lake City, Utah, with a viewing prior to the service at 9:30 – 10:45 am.  Interment, Charleston Cemetery at 1:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the LDS Missionary Fund.  Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com
