Arleta S Nielsen

July 9, 1928 — September 5, 2018

Arleta Scothern Nielsen, 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in Centerville, Utah.  She was born on July 9, 1928 in Bear River, Utah, to Joseph William and Ruby Young Scothern.  She was the second of nine children.  She married Richard Edward Nielsen on August 30, 1947.  Dick and Arleta had 6 children; Steven, Allen, Kent, Carol Jean, Ronald, and a baby boy.

Arleta was very active, independent, and generous throughout her life.  She enjoyed bowling and golfing, as well as her involvement in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.  She also had a strong testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, and enjoyed her service there.

She is survived by 2 brothers, Elden and Lloyd; 3 sons, Allen (Karen), Kent (Pam), and Ron; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter (with another due in November). She was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Wendell, Clinton, Duane, Doyle, Ferris, and Nona; 2 babies in infancy, Carol Jean and a baby boy; her beloved husband, Dick; her son, Steve; and her grandson, Alex.

There will be a viewing held on Thursday, September 13 at 9:45am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 1941 North Main Street in Farmington, Utah.  She will be buried at the Memorial Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.
