Arthur Bruce Cox

September 20, 1942 — March 25, 2016

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dearest friend Arthur Bruce Cox passed away peacefully March 25, 2016.  At his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family after 18 months of a courageous battle with cancer.

Arthur was born September 20, 1942 in St. George, Utah. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served a full time mission for the Church in the Uruguay, Montevideo mission from 1961 – 1964.  He was married to his high school sweetheart, Jean Butterfield, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 11, 1964.   They have six children and fourteen grandchildren.  He was a loving spouse and a dedicated father who gave a lifetime of service to his family, his friends and all those around him.  He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and served in many callings including scout leader, faithful home teacher, high priest group leader, and stake high council.  He enjoyed serving in the temple and most recently served a mission at the Bishop’s Storehouse.  Many knew him as the friendly meat manager at Dick’s Market in Centerville where he served the community for 30 years.

Arthur is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Jean Butterfield Cox; siblings Donna Hiatt (Blaine), Kenneth Cox (Jan), Genevieve Brown (Keros), Ernest Cox, Hilda Empey (Bruce), Leonard Cox (Sandra), LaMonte Cox (Tina) and other sister in laws (Patricia) and (Sandy); children Ernest Lloyd Cox (Mary), Warren Bruce Cox (Shirley), Debora Jean Cox, Weston Lee Cox (Jennie), Natalie Hunter (Phillip) and Patrice Cox; grandchildren Summer (Rhett), Alex, Sarah, Danielle, Porter, Aaron, Sadie, Lydia, Sydney, Emma, Rachel, Kimball and Samantha. He is preceded in death by his parents Anna Ida Farrer Cox and Kenneth LaVon Cox, grandson John Morris Cushing and sister in law Glenna Bryson Cox.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the LDS Chapel located at 1125 North 400 West in Centerville, Utah.  Viewings will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah and Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 11:45 – 12:45 pm prior to services at the LDS Chapel.  Internment at Centerville Cemetery, Centerville, Utah.  Please share your memories in our online guest book at russonmortuary.com.
