Arthur Reed Merrill

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, Arthur Reed Merrill, beloved father of five children, passed away at the age of 85. Lovingly known as Reed to his family and friends, he was born to Harry Lee Merrill and Ella Knowles Everton Merrill on October 19, 1936.

He faithfully served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northwestern States. He met his “licious,” Leona Heaton, and they married on March 17, 1961. They raised five beautiful children, four sons and one daughter.

Reed graduated from BYU with majors in education and graphic arts and minors in photography and auto mechanics. He taught graphic arts in Utah for over 30 years.
Whenever Reed had spare time, he was either fixing a vehicle or learning a new computer program. He was always up on the latest tech. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and his beautiful wife Leona, to whom he was married just short of 51 years.

He is survived by his children, Harry, George (Arlyn), Dylan (Maegan), Allison Lemon (David), Mitchel (Mary), his brother Robert (Lawana), 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022 at the Bountiful 14^th Ward, 1500 S. 600 E., Bountiful, Utah, where a viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Services will be streamed live on the Russon Mortuary & Crematory Facebook page and on this obituary page. Streaming will begin 10-15 minutes prior to the start of services.
