Arvilla Child

September 11, 1927 — March 3, 2013

On March 3, 2013 our loving mother, Arvilla Putnam Child, slipped through the veil to be reunited with her eternal companion, Eugene, who passed away on the same date, eleven years earlier. She was born on September 11, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the daughter of Emily Pearl Love and Clark William Putnam. She was raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School in 1944. Arvilla and Eugene were married on April 15, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They eventually moved to Bountiful to raise their family. Mother worked at LDS Hospital, ZCMI and assisted Gene in the building of Child Brothers, Inc. for 23 years.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary, Relief Society and as Relief Society President. She loved music, enjoyed singing with her 4 sisters and singing in the ward choir. She also enjoyed writing to missionaries and supporting them.
Arvilla is survived by her sister, Helen Cox; children, Kathryn Skollingsberg, Debra Ann (George) Stayton, James E. (Karen), Thomas S. (Janice), Clinton D. (Linnea); 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Adams Child; two brothers; William L. Putnam, David C. Putnam; 4 sisters, Margorie Wall, Martha Fern Putnam, Zella Pearl Cox, Janice Valois Burton; and son Van Adams Child.
The family wishes to extend their upmost thanks and appreciation to Heritage Place Assisted Living, North Canyon Care Center and to Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving care and service.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at the Bountiful 21st Ward Chapel, 1950 S. Orchard Drive. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful and Saturday morning from
9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment – Bountiful City Cemetery.
We look forward to the time when we can embrace Mom and Dad once again and be a family for eternity.
