Ashel A. Evans

October 16, 1941 — October 26, 2015

Ashel Almond Evans, age 74, of Kaysville, UT, died on October 26, 2015, of heart failure. He was born in South Gate, CA, on October 16, 1941. Ashel is the son of the late Ashel John Evans and Gladys Darlene Davis.  He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lydia Krebs, their children: David (Sheelagh), Holly (Adam), Jennifer (Dan), Jon (Tina), Annie (Keith), and 22 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, DaShel Watkins, and brother, Denton Evans.

Ashel graduated from Uintah High in 1959. He served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Central States Mission. Following his mission, he attended BYU where he earned his BS in sociology, and a master’s in counseling & guidance. On March 27, 1975, he was sealed to his eternal companion in the Salt Lake Temple.

Ashel was a beloved elementary school teacher and college tutor for over 35 years. He was remembered as being kind, patient, and understanding. For summer work, Ashel would climb scaffolding and endure the dry summer heat as a paint crew chief. To everyone he knew he was an example of consistent work and dedication.

His family adored him, and he adored them. He made their temporal and spiritual well being his number one priority. He consistently taught and led by example. He had a strong testimony of the gospel and served faithfully in many different capacities. Upon retirement, he spent many years as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple. He also loved to serve in the Bishop’s storehouse where he assisted for many years. He was a great example of Christlike service.

He will be dearly missed by his family, extended family, and close friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, at 11:00 am, in the Kaysville Utah East Stake Center, 201 South 600 East, Kaysville, UT. Friends and family may visit Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main St. Farmington, UT. or Friday from 9:30-10:30 am at the Kaysville Utah East Stake Center. Interment will be at the Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 Crestwood Rd. Kaysville, UT.
