Audrey Eva Woodbury

June 17, 1930 – March 2, 2015

Audrey passed away peacefully in her home holding the hand of her sweetheart on March 2nd, 2015 after having fought a long courageous battle with cancer.  She was 84 years old.

Audrey was born in Reno Nevada, the youngest child of Martha Brinkley.  She attended Reno High School and was a good student.  While attending high school, Audrey began working as a supervisor at Woolworth’s Drug Store at the young age of 14.  After graduating from high school, she began working in a bank in Reno and would work in the banking business in Gallup, NM and Salt Lake City, UT for many years to come.  In her later years she enjoyed working at the Energy Solutions Arena.

Audrey had a passion for reading and watching sports. She especially loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s games in whatever sports they were involved. She also loved supporting her children in the many plays and productions in which they participated. She had a quick wit and was a talented bowler. Audrey met her sweetheart, John, in a bowling league and knew she had bowled a strike. They were married on July 9, 1955 in Reno, Nevada and were approaching their 60th anniversary.

Her children, Lissa, Scott, and Mike were born in the years ahead.  Although Audrey worked for many years, her priority was being at home with her children.  She loved her family dearly and supported them in all the activities she was able to.   She was an incredible seamstress and spent many hours sewing for children, grandchildren, family, and friends.  She was an excellent cook and loved to try new recipes.

Audrey and John have spent many hours with friends and family playing games and traveling.  She had a great sense of humor and loved to have a good time.

Audrey leaves behind her husband John, daughter Lissa Jensen (Welby), and sons, Scott (Wendy) and Michael (Janice); 13 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her mother Martha, a brother Allan, and sister, Norma.

Special recognition and thanks go to the doctors and nurses at Huntsman Cancer Institute who cared for Audrey over the past three years and to Gentiva/Canyon Hospice who helped her during her last few months.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chase Lane LDS Chapel at 1125 N. 400 W. in Centerville, Utah.  Friends and family may visit the previous day, Monday, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Russon Brother’s Mortuary, 295 N.
