Barbara Ellen Jones

Bountiful, UT – Barbara Ellen Jones, 81, passed away peacefully at her residence in the Welcome Home Assisted Living of Bountiful facility on May 24, 2017.
Barbara was born on December 19, 1935, in Salt Lake City, to Dorrel and Lucille Erickson Fowles.  She was sealed to her special father, Vernon Ashby Christensen, whom her mother married in 1956.
On June 11, 1954 Barbara married David L. Jones in Salt Lake City, Utah, with whom they had four children. Though they divorced, they remained friends until her passing.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barbara served in many ward and stake callings and served as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Utah Temple.
Barbara had a bond with all of God's creatures. She would be upset with anyone removing an ant, spider or fly from her house in any manner that would harm, or cause stress on the creature.
Barbara gained her claim to fame when she and some of her family vacationed at her son's home in Massachusetts. While there, they visited Cape Cod. When reporting on this trip she would proudly, and in a sophisticated manner state that she had visited "The Cod".
Barbara is survived by her sons, Barry (Deborah) Jones; Neil (Suzann) Jones. Her daughters,  Jeannine (Rod) Peterson; Connie Jones; Eight grandchildren; Twelve and a half great-grandchildren.
A special thanks is given to the Bountiful 9th Branch Presidency and Relief Society Presidency; all of the staff and residents of Welcome Home; the staff of Tender Care.  Everyone showed such love and compassion to Mom.  Our family will be eternally grateful to you all.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Orchard 2nd Ward building, 3707 South 800 West, Bountiful, Utah, where a viewing will be held at this building prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m.. Interment will be at the Bountiful Memorial Park Cemetery.
