Barbara Jean Kay Holbrook, born July 18, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second daughter of LaPreal and Woodrow Kay (from Mona, Utah), died Saturday, October 27, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her family by her side.
All who know and love Barbara know the love of her life is Gregory Keith Holbrook. They launched their 46 years of marriage on June 9, 1966, which union blessed them with two loving children and six beloved grandchildren: daughter Kassandra Clarke (BreAnne and Zachary Zigich); and son Travis Holbrook and fiancé Paula Evans (Taylor, Brecken, Holly and Cooper Holbrook and Jayme Evans).
Our Barbara was forever a devoted daughter, sweet sister, precious mother, dear grandmother, loyal friend, and constant companion as THE BEST WIFE a man could want. No man has ever been so continually doted over, served, and loved as has Barbara’s sweetheart Greg. While she adored her children, pampered her grandchildren, kindly supported her extended family and always valued her neighbors, no one came before her husband’s needs, wants, and wishes. Over the years Barbara has been the consummate homemakerbuilding nests in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Idahowhere her trademark was always the display of her proverbial green thumb, whether overflowing flowerpots or bursting tomatoes for her famous chili sauce. She exemplified and created beauty in every sense.
Survivors are husband Greg; children and grandchildren (above); siblings Shannon (Nick) Gray, Lynda (Richard) Hardy, Larry (Patricia) Kay¸ Sherleen (Andy) Katsanaves; in-laws Kathy Hinckley, Kristeen (Craig) Siddoway, Val Holbrook; nieces and nephews; and special friends Joshua Brasseal and Adrian DiTirro.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the sincere care and expertise of the staff at IHC Neuroscience Critical Care unit.
