Barbara Jean Leak Weese

May 7, 1935 — January 1, 2022

Our dear mother and “Grammy”, Barbara Jean (Leak) Weese, died peacefully in the home of her daughter, Kristy Veale of Centerville, Utah from the effects of age on January 1, 2022. She was born on May 7th, 1935, the oldest of four daughters born to George Orval Leak and Sarah “Sally” (Barber) Leak in Centerville, Utah. She was born in the family home – delivered by a one-eyed doctor and a one-eyed nurse.

She grew up in Centerville on the family farm where she learned the values of hard work and sacrifice. She became an expert at picking cherries and other fruits from the family orchard. She had many friends from her youth and “The Gang” remained close throughout the remainder of their lives. She has always cherished her relationships with friends – old and new – and always made people feel loved and special. From the post office to the doctor’s office and everywhere she would go, she would walk into the room and sing out “You Whooo!” as her signature greeting.

She was taught the importance of the Gospel in her home and lived a life of service to her church and community. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings throughout her life and brought her infectious love to every calling. She was beloved by the Young Women of her ward and stake and by the sisters of the Relief Society.

She married R.C. Tolman (later divorced) and together they raised six children. Randy C (Jill) Tolman, Cindy Morrow, Tammy (Kyle) Naylor, Kristy (Jim) Veale, Rod C. (Jennifer) Tolman, and Michael C. (Alyson) Tolman. She later married Dee Weese in the Salt Lake Temple and gained another three children to love and nurture. Steven (Deborah) Weese, Christine (Don) Moss, and Brian (Cathy) Weese. Together, Dee and Barb had 34 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren to love and spoil.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, sister Burma Cluff, granddaughter Ellie, and her sweetheart Dee. She is survived by her children, sisters Louise Garrett and Susan Horrocks.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Jim and Kristy Veale who opened up their home to provide loving care for Barbara during her final months – and to Gracie Hutchings, Barb’s loving home health care provider.

To Barb from all who knew her, we will always “love-a-love-a you!”
