Barbara Johnson Bachman

January 22, 1925 — July 15, 2017

Barbara Johnson Bachman, 92, of Farmington, Utah died Saturday, July 15, 2017 of causes incident to age.  She was born January 22, 1925 in her beloved small town of Rigby, Idaho to Nathan Daniel Johnson and Afton Hill Johnson.  Afton and Nathan later divorced.  Barbara was raised by her mother and her stepfather, Paul Holmes Weaver.  Barbara was the older sister to Patricia Weaver (Stewart) and Hill Holmes Weaver, who both predeceased her.  Her grandparents, George Elbridge and Maude Sarah Hill, were a great blessing in her life.  They enriched her life with music, books, refinement, love and security.  Barbara was an active member of the LDS church.  She learned to love the gospel while attending church with Grandmother Hill.

Barbara graduated from Ogden High School.  In October 1945 she met Rex Goddard Bachman who was recuperating from wounds received fighting in the South Pacific during World War II.  Rex and Barbara were married June 19, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  Barbara’s beloved husband died of cancer on January 23, 1987.  She remained a widow for over 30 years.  Barbara served a mission in the Los Angeles Family History Center from 1990-1991.

Barbara is survived by her five children: Nancy (Don Tripp), Rex G. Bachman, Jr. (Kathy), Shauna (Wayne Klein), Robert W. Bachman (Diane) and Bradford J. Bachman (Lark).  Barbara has 17 grandchildren, including Tyler Klein who preceded her in death.  Barbara also has 23 great-grandchildren.  She deeply loved all the children in her life.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22 at 11a.m. at the Somerset LDS Chapel, 1855 Summerwood Drive, Farmington UT.  Family and friends may call Friday, July 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Mortuary, 1941 North Main St., Farmington, UT. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
