Barbara Kissam Britt

Barbara Jean Kissam Britt passed away on May 30, 2011, of a heart attack. She was born August 2, 1936 to Troy Vanderbilt Kissam and Elizabeth Jane Bozard in Orangeburg, S.C. Barbara married James H. Britt in Orangeburg, S.C. on January 1, 1956. They joined the LDS church in 1972 and were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Barbara attended the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va., and spent much of her adult life raising her boys and managing numerous apartments with her husband. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother with numerous talents, including painting and drawing. She also served as a temple worker in the San Diego temple for over 12 years. Barbara and Jim had two children: Glenn Allen (Vicki) and James Milton (Darlyn). They had 10 grandchildren, seven boys and three girls, whom she adored and spoiled. Barbara is also survived by her sister Libby (Larry) Bennett of Lexington, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at the Suntrails Ward building at 2160 W. Gordon Ave., Layton, Utah, on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Historic Springville Cemetery 200 West 400 South in Springville. The family would like to thank the Suntrails Ward Relief Society, their bishop, and devoted home and visiting teachers for their many kindnesses and much service rendered. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Suntrails Ward Missionary Fund.
