Barbara Winegar Smith

Barbara Winegar Smith of Centerville, Utah, passed away Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, on her birthday at the age of 84. She was born Thursday, June 2nd, 1938, in Provo, Utah, the daughter of Frank Edwin Robertson and Lazette Clark Robertson.

She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1956. Upon graduation, Barbara received a scholarship to an art school in California.

In 1958, she married Clinton Elias Winegar on February 7th. They built their forever home together in Centerville and moved in upon completion in 1973. They had three children together. After 36 years of marriage, Clinton passed away July 13th, 1994.

She later married Thomas Floyd Smith “Smitty” on October 17th, 2003. Barbara once again survived the passing of her 2nd husband “Smitty” on October 15th, 2007.

She volunteered for many years in various capacities including callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and at the voting polls. She was a member of the Bountiful Elks Lodge, BPOE 2442, where she held many positions. Barbara enjoyed traveling and the great outdoors. A yearly trip to Yellowstone became a family tradition. Art was an interest she loved and accelerated at. She continued her education throughout her life.

She is survived by her children Scott Winegar (Loree) and Debbie Winkelaar (Pete), her daughter-in-law Evana Wingear and her grandchildren Amy McCurry (Tony), Nick Winegar (Cali), Mike Winkelaar, Brandon Winegar (Jackie), John Winegar (Danica), Mike Winegar (Chantel), and Elias Winegar. She is proceeded in death by her parents and son Steven Winegar.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 270 North 300 East, in Centerville. A viewing will be held that morning in the Relief Society room from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. The graveside dedication will be at the Centerville City Cemetery, 650 East 400 South, Centerville, Utah.

Services will be streamed live on the Russon Mortuary & Crematory Facebook page and on this obituary page. The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the service and will be posted below.
