Barbara Wray

July 31, 1927 — December 28, 2013

Barbara Geraldine Hansen Wray, loving mother, sister and friend, has been reunited with her father, Solomon Hansen and mother, Ellen Judd Hansen on December 29, 2013. Mom was married to her high school sweetheart Sidney Enos Wray, (divorced in 1980) and together raised 5 children. Loved by all and a stranger to none, moms life was one of giving. She deeply loved and was fiercely loyal to her children, grandchildren (19) and great grandchildren (21). Every year to the last, she continued to give. Countless people were recipients of her hand made quilts. Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and never strayed from those beliefs she held dear. She served in the Bountiful temple as well as many of the church auxiliaries. Young women, to this day, talk about Barbara’s influence in their lives. Talk of warm bread and jam, warm hospitality, love and kindness was always extended towards all. Barbara loved to golf, and served as a past president of Oakridge Country Club. She was one of the original Pink Ladies at the South Davis Community Hospital, along with her dearest and long time friend and sister-in-law, Norene Wray.
Survived by her children, Vickie Hanson (Dennis), Stephen (Kristy), Kirt (Caroline), Robin Bleazard (Steve) and David. Mom was preceded in death by her beautiful granddaughter Brittanie Siobhan Hanson, and her 7 siblings, who affectionately called her “Bobbie”. Ray (Marie), Dan, Julia Darrington (Darrell), Zina Wirthlin (John), Jay, Janis (Bess), Fonda Allen (Rex). She was adored by them all and she looked forward to that day when she could throw her arms around them. We would extend our gratitude to those many friends who enriched her life, those who served her at Barton Creek and and the many bank customers over the years who she always called her friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Woodland Hills LDS Chapel, 640 South 750 East, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
