Bartley Hansen

Biography

Bartley Ray Hansen passed away on October 27th from a sudden brain infection at his home in Gallup, New Mexico. His death came as a shock to all who knew him. He was active and energetic his whole life and loved to hike, hunt, camp, and spend time with his family. He had limitless stamina to accomplish hard work. He had many hobbies and projects from woodworking to the restoration of an International Scout. He loved aviation and history. He parachuted over 20 times as a young adult. He held a pilot’s license for several years and dreamed of building his own kit plane. He recently walked from one rim of the Grand Canyon to the other. He loved his family and regularly took them on vacations. He was a hero to his children and a wonderful grandpa to his grandchildren, who all love him.
Bart was born on June 9th, 1953 in Brigham City, Utah to Wesley Ray and Darlene Hansen of Corinne, Utah.
He attended school in Box Elder School District, and graduated from Box Elder High School, in Brigham City in 1971.
Bart was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served an LDS mission in the Australia Brisbane Mission from 1972 to 1974.
He married his lifelong sweetheart Denise Rae Child November 14, 1975 in the Logan Utah Temple. After her passing in 2002 he faithfully awaited their eternal reunion.
Bart received degrees from Stevens Henager and Westminster Colleges and had a successful career in Hospital administration as the CFO of several hospitals. His employees praised his good nature and generosity. He had a great capacity to listen and work through difficulties with patience. He worked longer and harder than was necessary gaining respect from those he worked with.
He held leadership positions in the church throughout his adult life, including being a counselor in several bishoprics. He hosted many missionary companionships and youth firesides in his home in Gillette, Wyoming. Most recently he served as the High Priest Group Leader and a member of the High Counsel in his ward in Gallup, New Mexico. As he aged, his testimony strengthened and he spent more and more time in service to others.
Bart is survived by his siblings Peggy (Grant) Skeen, of Corinne, Utah and Trae (Candy) Hansen, of Lynn, Utah; his children Joshua Ray (Tiffanie) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Spencer Neal (Michelle) Hansen of Orem, Utah; also, his grandchildren Dylan, Owen, Carson, Adelyn, Stevie, Scarlett and Isabelle. He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, his Sister Carlene Hansen, and his Wife, Denise.
The family expresses deep appreciation to all those who have expressed their condolences. There will be a visitation at the LDS Chapel at 601 Susan Avenue, Gallup, New Mexico on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM followed by another at Russon’s Mortuary in Bountiful, Utah on Monday November 3rd from 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral will be held at the LDS chapel at 2064 South 800 West in Woodscross, Utah at 11:00 AM preceded by a visitation that same day from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. He will be buried in the Kaysville, Utah Cemetery, alongside his wife.

There will be a visitation at the LDS Chapel at 601 Susan Avenue, Gallup, New Mexico on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM followed by another at Russon’s Mortuary in Bountiful, Utah on Monday November 3rd from 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral will be held at the LDS chapel at 2064 South 800 West in Woods Cross, Utah at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 4, 2014, preceded by a visitation that same day from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. He will be buried in the Kaysville, Utah Cemetery, alongside his wife.
