Bountiful, UT – On Tuesday, June 11, 2019, the world lost a beautiful man, who had a big smile and an even bigger heart. Our beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Benjamin Jay Leavitt (Ben, B.J., Benny) was born December 8, 1981, in Salt Lake City. His parents are Craig & LeeAnn Leavitt of Caldwell, ID, and Diana & John Rogers of Bountiful.
Ben grew up in St. George and Bountiful and attended Bountiful High School, where he was a member of the football team. He later earned his GED and graduated from the U. S. Marine Corp Academy in San Diego, CA.
Ben married his sweet wife, Wendy Beth Turner on September 26, 2009, in West Jordan, Utah. He is the father of a cherished son, Craig Jay Leavitt, to whom he was devoted.
He worked as a technical advisor and copywriter for Overstock.com, for nine years and was currently employed by IdenTrust in Salt Lake as a technical analyst. He was a computer whiz.
Ben had an infectious laugh and loved to tease everyone, especially his nephews and nieces. He loved music, had a beautiful voice and played the guitar. He loved sports (especially football), playing games with friends and most of all, he loved all his family. Ben was an avid patriot and had extreme faith in the U.S. Constitution and founding principles of our country. He loved the Japanese culture and language. He had a keen intellect and absorbed information like a sponge. If he was interested in something, he would study, read and learn everything there was to know about the subject. He had a commanding vocabulary and enjoyed teaching his son. Ben was a giving and generous soul and loved serving others. He enjoyed cooking crazy concoctions and frustrating everyone by never tearing the wrapping paper on his Christmas or birthday presents.
Ben is survived by his dear wife and son, his parents, stepmother Valerie Marshall, his siblings, Camille VanAarle, Zachary Rogers, Julie Leavitt, Mitch (Lisa) Rogers, Michelle (Tre-vor) Larsen, Michael (Courtney) Rogers, Marc Rogers, Russel Morgan, Caitlin Morgan Robi-son, Brenna Morgan, Shyanna Morgan Toscano, Savanna Morgan Simmons, Serre' Barton, aunts, uncles, cousins and many adoring nephews and nieces. He was preceeded in death by his grandparents Dick & Beulah Harrison and Donnell & Cherry Leavitt.
There will be a visitation on Friday, June 21 from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m., at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main St. in Bountiful, where there will be a memory and tribute book to sign for Ben's son. Following, there will be a Memorial service for close friends and family. Benjamin will be laid to rest at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
