On the morning of January 9, 2019, Bernett L. Baldwin, husband and father of three, passed away at the age of 80. He was blessed to live a full and rich life.
Bernett was born on May 14, 1938 in Cedar City, Utah to Bernard and Huldah Lanetta Lameraux Baldwin. He was the youngest of five siblings. After graduating from Cedar City High School, he served an LDS mission in the Northern States Mission. Bernett received a bachelor's degree from the College of Southern Utah and later a master's degree from the University of Utah. Throughout the span of his professional career, he was an elementary teacher, principal, curriculum developer, test writer, and test administrator. Bernett met his wife, Patsy Good Baldwin while teaching at the same school in Tooele, Utah. They were married on August 6, 1965. Together, they raised three near-perfect children. Following their years in Tooele, Bernett and Patsy settled in Bountiful, Utah. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he often served as a chorister and music director.
"Pops" will always be remembered as a gentle, kind, and friendly man who loved cats, reading, music, theater, the arts, and the Utah Jazz. He was proud to be a cast member during the first years of the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, Utah. Bernett served as a volunteer for the 2002 Winter Olympic games, an experience he relished for years. Throughout his life he enjoyed acting, directing, singing, and composing. He also enjoyed a wide array of good food, sweets, and desserts. His imaginative nature showed through his creative Christmas gifts, often accompanied by prose. Bernett enjoyed spending evenings sitting on the front porch and visiting with neighbors. He loved birds, flowers, gardening, and his backyard pond and waterfall. Bernett spent the later years of his retirement taking lots of naps, making greeting cards, cheering for the Utah Jazz, and watching Fox News.
Bernett was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Huldah Baldwin, his siblings, Alice L. Batt (Scott), David Hyrum Baldwin, Melvin Dee Baldwin (Connie), and Donna Marie Gordon (LeLan). He is survived by his wife, Patsy Baldwin (Good), children Bradley B. Baldwin, Matthew R. Baldwin (Sheryl), and Tiffany B.
