Bernice Spencer Couch

March 6, 1930 — January 4, 2022

Bernice Couch, age 91, passed away January 4, 2022, in Ogden, Utah. She was born March 6, 1930, to James Spencer and Catherine Jane Pilling in Tremonton, Utah. She was the 16th of 18 children — one of only 9 who lived past the age 2. She graduated from Bear River High School, Garland, Utah.

She lived in Tremonton until she married the love of her life, Raymond Junior Couch, on September 15, 1949. After Ray returned from serving in the Korean War, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on June 12, 1952.

Bernice lived a life of service by giving, sharing, and thinking of others and their needs. Her love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends is evident in the activities she planned and attended. Her motto was “I have a party to plan a party”. Her parties included grandchildren sleepover’s, game nights until the wee hours of the morning, Lake Powell trips, Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s get-togethers with family, neighbors and friends. She also looked forward to attending grandchildren and great grandchildren’s games, concerts, plays, rodeos, dance events and gymnastics.

She served faithfully in various callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of her favorites was the Woods Cross Stake Girls Camp Director for 18 years. Serving two missions with her husband at the Washington D.C. Temple and ordinance workers at the Bountiful Utah Temple. She loved her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ and shared that love with others through her service, acceptance and prayers.

She is survived by her five children: RaJean (Alan) Olsen, Gary (Sandy) Couch, Char (Kurt) Bosen, Carolyn (Rick) Hibler, Sherrie (Charlie) Reynolds, 20 grandchildren, along with the numerous others that called her grandma, and 35 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 17 siblings, and husband. We express gratitude to all those who helped with her caregiving.
