Bernice Carpenter Rima our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and friend returned home to her Father in Heaven December 27, 2014. Mom left us years ago due to the ravages of Alzheimers Disease which stole her mind and has now claimed her body.
She was born August 1, 1929 to Raymond Linzy and Verbena Mary Stringer Carpenter; the 9th of 12 children. She was the 2nd born of twin girls. Raised in Evanston, Wyoming; she loved helping her father care for all of the animals. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she had many callings, but she most enjoyed working in the Youth Center in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples. She married Ronald Leon Rima October 6, 1952 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They were married for 55 years until his death in 2008. Together they raised 6 children. She worked for JC Penney retiring in 1992. She loved music, dancing, traveling, baking, sewing and handiwork. Her hand dipped chocolates were a favorite of friends and family. When asked how she was, she responded Fine, always Fine. We love and miss you Mom, but know you are now whole and happy to be with those who have been anticipating your arrival.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents and all but one sibling, her twin sister Bessie (Frank) Wirig. She is survived by her children Julie Cox (Stephen), Jon (Shelli), Laurie Dalton (Rick), Mark (Shanna), Jane Haslam (Scott) and Greg, 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Legacy Care Center and Aspire Hospice for their years of loving care.
Viewing will be held at the Centerville Stake, 950 North Main, Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 10-11:00 a.m. A short private service will follow before proceeding to Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful.
