Bert Edwin Cadwalader, 92, passed away February 26, 2022, with his dedicated caregiver and great-granddaughter, Alisha Jo Sellers (his girl) by his side. Born May 8, 1929, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Walter Edward and Daisy Ethel Cadwalader, he was the sixth of ten children. He grew up in Nebraska. Bert married his sweetheart, Mary Allie Brandt, September 7, 1951. Together they were blessed with three children. She preceded him in death April 30, 2015.
He served a 20-year career in the United States Air Force, where he retired in 1967. He was an accomplished automotive mechanic throughout his lifetime and a devoted crossing guard for many years. Bert deeply loved his church community. He was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church where he helped build the church.
Bert was a big tease, known for his fun-loving good nature. He was fiercely independent and always willing to help everyone in any way he could. He was deeply devoted to his wife and his grandchildren. He was “Grandfather Extraordinaire” to Jamie Jo, Holly, Keith, and Kyle. He was affectionately called Grandpa by many, including Roberta Ivankovich and her children; Stan (Connie) Payne and their children Jamey, Brian and Misty Payne; dozens of Jamie and Alisha’s friends, and just about anyone who met him.
His memory will be cherished by his children, Edwin Bert Cadwalader (Emma Jo) and Linda Kay Croxford (Kirk); grandchildren, Jamie Jo Cadwalder; Holly Johnson (Jeremy), Keith Croxford (Kiri), Kyle Croxford; Jeremy Bake, Tony Bake (Cristie) and Joshua Bake (Betsy); 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his newest great-great nephew (Karsyn).
Bert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary; parents and siblings; and daughter, Jo Ann Cadwalader.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Flourishing Grace Church, 390 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may come for a viewing Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery under the direction of Russon Mortuary.
