Bert Afton Gines

Bert Afton Gines was called home to his Heavenly Father surrounded by loving family on March 16, 2024. Bert was born in Bountiful, Utah on October 7, 1942 to Ray C. and Elaine Argyle Gines. Bert married Johanna DeVoogd on November 8, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Bert had quite the sense of humor and everyone who came across his path would hear some story or joke. Bert had lots of hobbies and interests, he loved camping, woodworking, fishing, and working out in the garden. He was always so proud of any wood creations that he finished and loved to show them off to everyone.

Bert is survived by his wife Johanna D. Gines, his 4 children, Laurianne (Mike) Christensen, Julianne Larmay, Michael (Tracy) Gines, and Christine, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and brothers Keith (Jolene) Gines and Paul (Lynette) Gines.

Bert is preceded in death by parents Ray and Elaine, brother Lee Gines, sister JoAnn McNeal, and grandson Clint Christensen.

A viewing will be held Sunday, March 24th from 6-8 PM, and Monday, March 25th from 9:30-10:30 AM at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah 84010. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 25th at 11:00 AM at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
