Bessie Jackson Williams

August 30, 1918 — April 20, 2011

Bessie Mae Jackson Williams peacefully left this life on April 20,2011and entered the arms of her Heavenly Father, and many of her loved ones who were waiting for her, including a husband, parents, sisters and a brother, but especially her two grandsons, Jason and Rob, who were saying” Come on Grandma, it time to go”. There were also many hundreds of souls waiting to meet her whom she had done genealogical research for. She was born August 30, 1918, in Beach Port, Kentucky, to Jerry and Pearl Jackson. Our Mon was raised in difficult times and had to learn to be strong early in her life. She and sisters Hazel, Annie and Mary looked after their little brother Jerry, as their mother was in a sanatorium for a year with tuberculosis. Their father was an itinerant farmer and was unable to care for them, so they were placed in a childrens orphanage for a year until their mother recovered. These are the things our mother loved: gardening, with her friend Darlene, sewing, cooking, decorating, genealogy and birds. No matter where she lived, there was always bird feeders and suet hanging from a tree where she could watch and identify the birds as they came to feed. However what she loved most is our Savior, Jesus Christ and her family, Bonnie Tibbitts (Bob) Bountiful, James Williams (Sally) Sandy, Utah, Joda Woolly (Lee) , 14 grand children and 27 great grand children. Always a good cook , we have many fond memories of the many times weve eaten a wonderful meal at her dinner table. Many lives were blessed by her meals to new moms and those who were sick or in need. She had no big awards or acclamations from her peers, but she did have many friendships and friends that lasted her whole life. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Manchester, England and came home with a great love for missionary work and the people of England. Mom served as a temple worker in the Bountiful Temple for three years. We will miss you so, so much Mom, especially your big smile and your sense of humor! She was so tenderly taken care of by the staff at Welcome Home Assisted Living. Those girls and Justin treated her like she was their mom. Thank you so much, Im sure shell find a way to repay you. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 28, 2011, at the Val Verda Stake Center, 2600 South and 500 West, Bountiful, at 12:00 noon. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM until 11:30 prior to the service. We extend a welcome to all those, whos lives have been touched by Bessie. Interment in the Bountiful City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to the LDS Church Missionary Fund or the Perpetual Education Fund, in her name.
