Friends & Family are invited to attend visiting hours Thursday, January 24, 6:30 – 8:00 pm, Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful.
Born 09/14/1926 in Roosevelt, Utah. Beth was 92 years old, passing peacefully due to complications from CHF on January 19, surrounded by family that loved her dearly. Beth was an excellent cook, making Sunday dinners that included the best homemade noodles you can imagine. She was dedicated to her family. She loved hunting and fishing, and prided herself on being ‘a good shot'. Roughing it in the outdoors was something she enjoyed and looked forward to. For 62 years Beth tossed an annual Santa Party where friends, family, children and grandchildren gathered for good food and great times. Beth married Darrell ‘Chub’ Lewis May 3rd, 1945. Together they owned and operated a large farm in Illinois from 1947 to 1954. She helped run the farm, fed the farmhands, and made a great impact on local farming by getting running water and natural gas heat to the homes and barns on the property. She worked hard and enjoyed the fruits of their labor. They moved back to Utah in 1954, settling in Rose Park. Beth worked as a nurse at the VA and Holy Cross Hospitals, as a Dental Assistant, a Dental Assistant School Teacher, and ultimately as a Pharmacy Tech at the VA and Hill AFB Hospitals.
Beth loved community service, having helped organize and run several of the SLC/Rose Park sports; Rose Park Boys Baseball, Football, Pep Club, and she organized the Rose Park US Lawn Tennis Association for Boys & Girls. She participated in Lady Lions for many years, along with 10+ years of Science Fair participation. She loved her Utes – and held University of Utah Football season tickets for more than three decades. Beth loved a puzzle, almost always having one open on her table for herself and guests.
“Full of life.” “One of the best people I’ve ever known.” “Always a great visit.” These are the phrases we, as Beth’s family, were told about Beth, all of our lives. Beth was a warm and wonderful human being that enjoyed and saw the best in everyone. Having lived such a long life she saw her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. She relished her time with family and friends, and sparkled with delight when anyone came for coffee and to sit awhile. Preceded in death by her son Joe E Lewis, husbands Darell “Chub” Lewis and Weldon Woozley, her three sisters, Winona ’Nonie’ Randall, Beulah Richards, Enid Tuggle, her brother, Raymond ‘Bud” Sturgeon, three brothers-in-law, two grandchildren, JD Lewis, Cindy Jo Lewis Cappy, and great-grandchild, Jasmine Lewis, a nephew, Robert ‘Bob’ Richards, along with many friends and relatives. She leaves behind 3 children,16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, including Ted “TR” Lewis (Jane), their three children, Anessa, Niki, Fletcher, and their families, Randy Lewis (Tammy Chabre-Lewis), their children, Nate, Jordan, Jon, Brad, and their families, Buffy Lewis Schwieger (Mark) and their children, Jazmynn Pok (Anthony Duke-Rosati), Justin Pok, Jaqi Pok, Kendall and Emory Schwieger, Jody Lewis Butcher (widow of her son Joe E Lewis) and their children, Sham Sorenson, Kasie Wright, Wesley Lewis, Alex Lewis, and their families. She leaves behind her beloved nieces, Marilyn Sanderson (Dave) and their children, Ken (Pam) and their children, and Russell (Vickie), and Carol Richards Davey (Bruce) and their children, Elizabeth Peligrino (Stefano) and Richard Davey (Cate), and their children. Beth had a special love for her nieces and nephews and cherished her time with them and each of their children.
Beth will be missed by the many family friends, and the good friends of her children and grandchildren that she went out of her way to be close to over her long life. She was always open to loving new people and found her deepest joy in staying close to those she loved. Everyone she knew felt right at home at her home, and when they left, they knew they were loved. There will never be a day that she is not missed by all of us.
Beth worked for the government for many years. With so many Utah families in need of temporary support, please consider a donation to the Utah Food Bank in lieu of flowers. utahfoodbank.org/give-money
