Betty Joyce Wetzel Burdge

Betty Wetzel Burdge passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023, four months before her ninety-fourth birthday. She was surrounded by her family and her loving husband, Ron Burdge. She entered this life in Soda Springs, Idaho - the first of two daughters born to Vard Williams and Jennie Callahan Hogan - on October 16, 1929.

Betty married John Caple in June of 1949. They were married for 14 years, during which time they had four beautiful children: John, Linda, Kathryn, and Elizabeth Caple. 

Following a divorce in 1963, Betty married Minor Wetzel of Almira, Washington in 1965, blending two amazing families. Minor brought three children to the marriage - Shannon Wetzel Carney, Neal Wetzel, and Minor L. (Mick) Wetzel. Betty and Minor R. were happily married for forty-seven years.

Betty was a wonderful mother to her seven children. An example of her dedicated service to her family is the fact that she drove her children 150 miles round trip each week to music lessons in Spokane.

Minor R. Wetzel passed away in May of 2012.

Betty then met and married Rolland (Ron) C. Burdge on February 23, 2016. They were married seven years before she passed.

Betty was well-known for her beautiful singing voice. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She was an accomplished artist, pianist, and organist. She used all of these gifts to serve her family and those around her. She will always be remembered for her powerful testimony of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Betty leaves behind her loving husband, Rolland (Ron) C. Burdge, daughters Shannon Carney, Linda Adams, Kathryn Neilsen, and Elizabeth Mitchell. She also leaves behind her sons Neal Wetzel and Minor L. Wetzel. She was preceded in death by her husband Minor R. Wetzel and her eldest son, John Caple.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Pineae Gardens Ward Building, 690 North 400 West, Centerville, UT where a viewing will be held that morning from 9:45 - 10:45 AM prior to services.  Graveside service will be held at the Almira, WA cemetery on June 17, 2023, at 2:00 PM. 

Services will be streamed live on the Russon Mortuary & Crematory Facebook page and on this obituary page.  The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the service and will be posted below.
