At the age of 89, our dearest mother was reunited with her husband, Marvin J. Mortensen and her daughter Sally Wight after being separated in death for over 24 years.
She was born on May 26, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Axel Wilhelm Lubbers and Ingrid Ida Christina Langstead Pedersen, who were new immigrants from Copenhagen, Denmark. She was the mother of Beverly Pridgen (Randy), Gail Winegar (Dee), Judi Haslam (Scott), Marvin J. Mortensen Jr. (Tracy), Ruth Randall (Brad), Jane Woodland (Lynn) and Sally Wight (DeOrr). She was the grandmother of 39, and great-grandmother of 67. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Lubbers.
She met her husband, Marvin, while they were serving in the Western States Mission. They later served an LDS mission to Copenhagen, Denmark where Marvin passed away in 1989.
She attended LDS Business College and loved to sing and dance, performing with the USO. She spent many hours doing family history. She had a quick wit and made us laugh. She was an amazing cook and homemaker. She was courageous in her challenges and faithfully endured to the end. Thank you to the kind staff at Country Care Assisted Living Center in Farmington, Utah.
