Betty Jean Holbrook Cabaness passed away peacefully with her family around her from natural causes in Bountiful on April 25, 2012, at the age of 86. She was born December 8, 1925 in Salt Lake City to Jonathan L. Holbrook and Ida Smith Page of Bountiful, Utah. She grew up in Bountiful where she graduated from Davis High School. She worked at several jobs including: Purity Biscuit Company, Mtn. Bell Telephone Company, Ogden Arsenal, Carr Stationary, and she also graduated from Beauty School. She married Fred Lee Cabaness on September 3, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, they made their home in Bountiful and then in 1964 they built a home in West Farmington where they raised 5 children. They resided there for 47 years. She worked for 8 ½ years at South Davis Community Hospital as a housekeeper. She also worked at the Utah State Tax Commission for 4 years. She was a lifelong member of the LDS Church where she held many positions in the Relief Society, Compassionate Service, and over 30 years of teaching primary. Mom was a diligent visiting teacher, where for as long as she was able, she served her Relief Society sisters with love and compassion. Mom had a strong testimony of the gospel, and always strived to teach her children gospel principles through both word and action. Her greatest passion in life was her family; they were the most important thing to her. She loved Sunday dinners, birthdays, holidays and any reason to have a family get together. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sister, Shirley Haacke, 2 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many loved ones. She is survived by her brother and sister, five children: Laralee Roberts (Clearfield), Marci Brady (West Bountiful), Kipp & Hollis Cabaness (West Weber), Jeff & Carla Avis (Kaysville), Trevis & Shawna Cabaness (Clearfield), 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She touched so many lives and was loved by all who knew her. Mom we love you and you will always be in our hearts. You will be greatly missed
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Steed Creek Chapel, 347 South 200 West, Farmington. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and Monday 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Centerville City Cemetery.
