Mom was born in Flint, MI. to George Henry Best & Gertrude Ethel Montague, September 14, 1930 with Gertrude passing & five little girls to raise, her father then married Lottie Babcock. They married in 1937. Mom was employed by Cudahys and met Dale E. Putnam they were married in April 1949. Mom had a zest for life, she liked going to lunch, camping with family & friends, sitting on the porch with dad at their house every evening till the sun went down talking to friends & neighbors. Mom was a hard worker & was always in the meat department. Mom was also employed by Smiths & Reams for many years. She loved working with her sister Peggy as a checker at Reams. Mom & Dad had great friends. Earlier in life they had an opportunity to travel for Phillips 66 Refinery to England, Australia, Hong Kong, and many other places. She was a dedicated member of the LDS Church. Mom served many callings in the Bountiful 37th Ward. Mom was a very caring, loving and passionate person she will be dearly missed by all who know her.
Survived by daughters, Diane (Don) Rissinger, Kris (Boyd) Nebeker & Val (Kerri) Putnam & Scott Putnam (deceased). Six Grandchildren & five and a half great grandchildren. Also sisters Barbara Beeman & Patsy (Marvin) Putnam, brother George (Helen) Best. Also she had numerous nieces & nephews. She loved them all. Preceded in death by parents, husband Dale, son Scott, grandson, Heath, sisters Peggy Neel & Mary Wright, also brother in laws and sister in laws.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West. A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. There will be a light luncheon at 1:00 p.m. at the Wight House, 95 North Main, Bountiful, following the graveside service.
