Betty Lou Melcher Olsen

Betty Lou Melcher Olsen, age 90, passed away March 5, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born January 14, 1929 in Milford, Utah to Otto August Melcher and Maggie Luella Edwards. She grew up in Salt Lake City and attended West High School and the University of Utah. She met her childhood sweetheart, Jay Oliver Olsen, when they were both five years old as tap dancing partners. They married on December 10, 1948 in Elko, Nevada, later solemnizing their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple.

Jay and Betty had three children, Jay D. (Paulette), Kathleen (Tim) Biehn and Rick (Debbie). She had seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart Jay and son Jay D.  

A viewing will be held Monday, March 18, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may visit between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
