Betty Rowland

Betty Williams Rowland of Bountiful, Utah passed away quietly in her husband’s loving arms August 24, 2018 at the age of 92.

She was born on April 18, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Henry Williams and Harriet Lucy Farley. Betty and Reid Rowland were sealed together for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on April 29, 1947 and enjoyed 71 wonderful years together.

Betty’s two siblings Joseph Williams and Rachel Patricia Keysor-Wait preceded her in death as well as a baby daughter, Rachel. She is survived by her husband, William Reid Rowland and her 7 children, Bill Rowland (Debi) Robert Rowland (Daryl), Linda Smith (Raymond), Nancy Stephenson (David) Judy Keyser (Kent), Suzanne Moyes (Dale), and Merrilee Gorringe (Art), 25 grandchildren 55 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  

Betty was a devoted wife and mother supporting her children and husband in their varied interests namely photography, music and ice skating. Betty served faithfully in the LDS church all her life which included serving a mission with her husband to the Dominican Republic from 1992 to 1993 and working in the Salt Lake and Bountiful temples. She returned to the University and earned her BA degree in art at age 60. In the 1970’s Reid and Betty owned and operated the Lamplighter Wedding Reception Center on Foothill Drive in Salt Lake City. There Betty with her children, Reid, and even neighbors would do the planning, ordering, catering, and decorating. Best of all she loved making the flower arrangements. She also loved to sew and knit and in later years, loved having her family, friends and neighbors come visit her.

Viewings will be held this Thursday evening August 30, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Russon Mortuary at 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah and again Friday morning August 31, from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the North Canyon 2nd LDS church located at 3350 South 100 East, Bountiful. The funeral service will be held at the church  at 11:00 am, followed by interment at the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd, Ogden, Utah, 10th street.
