Betty Ruth Baker

August 6, 1928 — July 29, 2017

Betty Ruth Oviatt Baker passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 29th, 2017 at the age of 88, one week short of her 89th birthday.  She was born August 6, 1928 along with her twin sister Beth Kiefer in Price, Utah, to Ira and Myrtle Oviatt.  Betty and Beth were the last birth of 5 children.

She married Andrew Jackson Baker Jr. in the Salt Lake Temple, June 28, 1957.  They had 4 children, 3 sons and 1 daughter;  Steven Baker (Jody), Christine Harker (Kent), Gary Baker (Cindy), Larry Baker (Julie). 

Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served many positions in the church. She served 2 Missions for the church, San Antonio, TX and Chinle Arizona on the Navajo reservation.

Betty worked for the Davis County Clipper for aprx. 25 years as a typesetter.

Betty was a very sweet kind person, she loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren, she was always willing to help others even if they just needed advice or a listening ear.

She leaves behind 4 children;  13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren with 2 on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Baker Jr., parents, Ira and Myrtle Oviatt, Ilo Oviatt (brother), Carmen Roscoe (sister), Jay Oviatt (brother), Beth Kiefer (sister)

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2505 South Davis Blvd, Bountiful.  A viewing will be held Friday evening, August 4, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon  Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful,  A second viewing will be held at the LDS Chapel from 9:30-10-30 a.m. prior to services.
