Beverly Nelson, 95 years old, of Layton, Utah, passed away on July 25th, 2018, at Apple Village Assisted Living Center in Layton, Utah. Beverly was born on March 9, 1923, in Grantsville, Utah, to Eddie Alonzo Anderson and Mabel Felicia Anderson. She married Lynn Nelson on November 3, 1945, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of eight children which are Janice (Clair Larkin) of Smithfield, Utah; Stuart (Kathy Chapman) of Rexburg, Idaho; Peggy (Jerry Brown) of Salt Lake; Sharon (Allen Brown & Ted Coombs, both deceased) of Logan, Utah; LuAnn (Eric White) both deceased; Neil (Shelly Hair) of Sandy, Utah; Phil (Robyn Gleason) of Clinton, Utah; and Cyndi (Curtis Leishman) of Perry, Utah. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by family that loved her very much. Beverly served a mission for the LDS church to the Northwestern States mission. She and her husband served missions to the Micronesian Guam mission and Bulgaria Sofia mission followed by many years of service in the Logan Temple. She loved the gospel and nurtured her family in the love of the Savior. Her skills of home making, cooking, sewing, and hand work have blessed her entire family with those same skills.
Her life exemplified a love for her Heavenly Father, her Savior and the gospel plan of salvation. She dedicated her time and energy to her family and making her home a place of warmth and welcome to all who entered. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were drawn to her home and nothing brought a brighter smile and more warmth to her eyes than having her family gathered round as she shared in their lives. She was selfless and loving and an influence for good in all she did.
She valued her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings which provided the opportunity to develop many treasured friendships.
Her good life was exemplified by living what she taught. In her life history she said, “I have learned many things throughout my life. The most important thing I have learned is to live close to the Lord and take heed of his teachings. Whenever I have had something happen to me or my family that was a struggle, I learned faith and obedience from it. The things that I would like my family to remember most is that I loved them no matter what. Even when they weren’t doing the things I would have liked them to, I loved them anyway. Everyone in my family are all great people. I can’t think of one of my kids or their families that is not great and trying to do good. Our family doesn’t have any millionaires but we still have great wealth in our family members. I absolutely love being a mother, grandma, and great grandma to these fine individuals”. She was the proud mother of 8 children, 35 grandchildren, and 100 great grandchildren.
Beverly is survived by Calvin Anderson (brother) of Salt Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband Lynn, her parents, her sister LaRae Stephens, a daughter LuAnn, son in-laws Eric White, Allen Brown and Ted Coombs and two great grandchildren, Jacob Carlos Santos and Michael Woolsey.
